Gershwin's Magic Key

Dear Classical Kids family,

Wow! Things are really moving quickly here at Classical Kids LIVE! and we need your help now more than ever!

I'm going to let a little secret out of the bag! We're creating a brand new theatrical symphony concert production based on the life and music of George Gershwin, and it's scheduled to premiere next season with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC!

That is truly awesome news, but it means we must immediately begin funding the creation of this new work. I am thrilled to announce that the National Endowment for the Arts has vetted and endorsed this endeavor with a federal grant that will be sure to get the momentum going! However, the NEA grant will only cover a small portion of our production creation costs. The rest must come from grants and generous donations by donors like you who have decided to make the commitment to align themselves with this noble project, seeing to it that George Gershwin's music will touch the hearts of today's young people and ensuring that his musical legacy lives on!

Our challenge is great. Over the next year the Gershwin production creation will demand the professional services of writers, a dramaturge, music supervisor, arranger and copyist, costume, set, prop and lighting designers, a stage manager, director, featured pianist, and actors, as well as the creation of educational materials, a marketing plan, etc. But we're wasting no time. The script is being written as I make this plea to you!

There is tremendous buzz about this premier! We know our new Gershwin production will be extremely popular with orchestras around the world and, after the Kennedy Center premiere, we are honored to include this rare performance opportunity as part of our On Tour offerings for family and educational concert programming. We're excited to know that this production will serve approximately 50,000 children and parents each year through collaborations with major symphony orchestras in the US, Canada and abroad!

So, let's get started, shall we? Join us in helping to create this first-of-its-kind production - a young people's concert production about the amazing life and musical masterpieces of the great American composer, George Gershwin! Won't you become our creative partner, helping to ensure that this production will inspire the minds of children everywhere? Please help by making a generous donation today and thank you so very much for your support!
